In preparation for the HOLY WEEK come and join us NEXT WEEK at the Applauso Italian Learning Center to watch the award-winning moving Cabrini and eat some Italian lentil soup! Bring also your own soup to share, or non-perishable foods to be donated to the Baltimore Hunger Project. The Cabrini film depicts the life of Catholic missionary Francesca Cabrini, portrayed by Cristiana Dell'Anna, as she encounters resistance to her charity and business efforts in New York City. Cabrini explores the sexism and anti-Italian bigotry faced by Cabrini and others in New York City in the late 19th century.

ITALIAN AMERICAN LIVING HISTORY! Throughout the last century onward, media and entertainment agencies have badly stereotyped the Italian American community as gangsters, dishonest mobsters, and evil individuals tolerant of and prone to violence. The Applauso Italian Learning Center seeks to present a more worthy and accurate representation of Italian Americans by showcasing the important contribution of Italian Americans to police and law enforcement. Through FOUR guest speakers, our local community will be able to learn from their important stories and impactful life experiences and appreciate how Italian Americans have been devoted to fight crime, enforce law and order and better the overall quality of life of many people in Baltimore City and across Maryland. The Applauso Italian Learning Center celebrates the life and legacy of Pasquale Applauso who passed away last week in Italy. Pasquale Applauso was Dr. Applauso's father and a professional optician and optometrist, a renowned singer (who won the Corrida with Gerry Scotti) a brilliant poet and adventurer. He visited Maryland back in 2017. He will be greatly missed by the Applauso family!
Despite the inclement weather we all had a BLAST LAST NIGHT at our event Amore e lasagne!
